This week, a good friend asked me this question…
I’m curious … How did you arrive on Life Untucked?” – Dan
This was a tough question for me to answer.
Spoiler Alert! At the end of this post, should you choose to visit, I’ll have a very important question for you.
Now, about arriving on LifeUntucked… I wish there was a fantastic story to tell.
But, it was one of those evolutionary things.
I first discovered blogging way back in 2005 when I came across Michael Hyatt, one of the early pioneers.
From the beginning, Michael wasn’t only focused on spreading his message. He wrote and shared tutorials on how you can, and why you should, have a blog of your own. I give him credit for planting the first seed.
Once I decided that I wanted to start a blog, I brainstormed a list of topics and ideas for the kinds of posts I might write. Being the “complaint human” I had been for so long, I wanted to be sure that I had enough ideas to get started and keep me going for a while.
This process went on for a very—long—time.
150 ideas later, I was pretty sure (but not positive) I had enough.
During that same period, life at big corpa kept heating up, and heating up…
Do more with less, do even more with even less. Do so much more with so much less, that you can’t do any more with any less.” – message from the C-Suite
I also started to notice that crazy-busy epidemic in our culture. (Yes! It’s an epidemic).
Then, mix in that Lanette and I were beginning our plans for the good life. (I will never use the R-word… just not my style).
Stir that all together, and I felt like my life would be so much better if I could just throttle-back and you know, live it a little more.
As I sliced and diced my list of potential topics…
I kept seeing things that spoke to a more meaningful and purposeful approach to life.
If you haven’t ventured onto my About page, you might do that sometime. I think it does a good job of answering “What is LifeUntucked.” But, I’ll try to hit on most of it right here.
With respect to the name, well… that came from the Muses.
Another story worth sharing happened about five or six months ago. It helps paint the picture.
I was having dinner with a friend. We were trading notes on our respective businesses as we usually do. Then the conversation shifted when he said…
You know, I’m not sure how much longer I want to keep doing this.”
After fifteen years, probably more, of building his business… he’s now pondering the “What’s next for me?” question.
He wasn’t talking about throwing in the towel or anything dramatic… just beginning to think about things along that line.
I saw it as a good time to share with him what I had been doing on that front, so I told him about LifeUntucked.
Knowing what it’s like being on a “what’s next?” journey for some time, I was careful not to pretend I had any of the answers. Other than to try and let go of conventional thinking and trust that really, anything is possible.
After a few of his questions, what he said next really crystallized a part of LifeUntucked that I had not realized before…
So, you’re blogging about the life you’d like to live. That’s cool!” — Brian
And, yes that’s it… I’m blogging about the life I’d like to live. And one that I believe many of us are longing for.
I’m inviting you to join me on this journey… so we can both figure out how to thrive in this crazy, busy, amazing, packed-with-endless-opportunity, go-go-go, more-more-more, now-now-now world of ours.
Oh, yeah, and doing it without going absolutely batshit crazy.
That’s pretty much it.
One of my earliest posts was …How This LifeUntucked Thing Got Started. When you have a moment, you might want to take a look at it. It has a few nuggets too. Check it out here.
We’ve arrived at the end (for now) and I promised you a question, so here goes…
I set out to let LifeUntucked find its own way, to become what it wants to become…
Where would you, as my reader like to see LifeUntucked go on its blogging journey? What ideas would you like for me to explore? In what ports would you like to dock?
I’d love to know.

Hi Jeff,
Life Untucked is one of the few websites I still subscribe to…the rest are mostly digital art tutorials. I enjoy the posts from this blog.
I would be interested to hear your thoughts on Unconditional Love and Free Will in the material world.
