I’m inspired by the sincere, authentic, and helpful thoughts people are sharing. Most of us are seeing fit to pull together.
How are you doing? I hope you, your friends, and your family are all taking care and staying well.
So far, so good from this side.
Let’s keep our visit short and simple today, we’ve all been through a lot and I’m sure we could both use a break. I’ll do my best to help by sharing a few of the more noteworthy and helpful thoughts and ideas I’ve come across this week.
PLUS, be assured this post is CERTIFIED 98% upbeat and 100% platitude-free. All text was written from a safe distance of at least 6’ at all times.
Since my daily business routines expose me to various online platforms, most of what I’m sharing comes to us from various reaches of the interwebs.
For the most part, I’m finding people are still working to wrap their heads around this whole enchilada. And, that’s completely understandable.
How are you doing with that?
I’m letting it take the time it needs and I’m finding it needs a little more.
I usually pride myself at being pretty good at seeing ahead… I am at a loss here. There are so many potential outcomes to this whole scenario, and that uncertainty is unsettling. The disruption to the regular routines of life, extremely disorienting.”
—Thom Boehm, voice in the wilderness on LinkedIn
Thom’s right, it’s the uncertainty that’s most unsettling. For me, I’ve finally gotten myself to stop asking why did everything have to go and change when I wasn’t even used to the old way yet?
Should we try to let go of anything once known as normal?
What’s normal anyway?
I have a confession to make. Two weeks ago, Friday, I actually referred to what I was witnessing at the time as “coronavirus nonsense.” Embarrassment and regret began to set in that Saturday, as the situation began to get real. Fortunately, only Lanette heard me… but she didn’t give me a pass either.
Yes, we’ve all heard crazier assessments… you can tune in at 6pm and you’ll be sure to hear more. Try to remember, we’re all humans facing one of the most disruptive experiences ever.
Reach out from the role you have and be a human. Connect. Communicate. Listen. Share. Be a human.”
—David Masover, sales consultant
Let’s be a human relying on our best human parts.
Then, check-in and reach-out every day.
Don’t forget to stay connected with your loved ones. We as humans are social beings- sometimes a simple phone call is all it takes.”
—Marina Bohrer, recruiter
Then, self-care becomes critically important for so many reasons. It’s this simple… give yourself all the help you can. This means getting rest, eating right, exercising, you know the drill.
Have I gone outside today?
Of course, you have. AND you’re keeping the appropriate distance from others, right?
Get as much sunshine as possible. I know, I know, this time of year can be dicey when it comes to the big glowing orb. Give yourself permission to stop what you’re doing whenever the sun comes out and give yourself at least fifteen minutes of rays.
“Move it. Move it. Move it.” What am I doing to move my body?
Keep an eye on your health and the health of those around you more than anything else. But don’t neglect the things that make life good. Have fun where you can. Continue to invest in yourself. Look for the good in things. And look forward to when things improve. Which they will!”
—Dan Smith, head genius at inGenius
Dan definitely knows the importance of letting yourself have fun. He also does standup in the UK.
Be well, my friend… I hope you found these thoughts helpful…
I won’t be looking for you in church on Easter Sunday, but I will be looking out for you. And I hope you’ll be doing the same, because that’s what we need to be doing. Until then…
Be untucked.
