What are you seeing differently this week?
Has your thinking changed at all? Can you wrap your head around a part of the pandemic this week that wasn’t possible last week? Or is it still too soon?
I just finished this week’s post. Again, I was writing about the COVID-19 crisis… but this isn’t that post. I had written most of it last week, but realized it was too soon.
Looking at it this morning, it felt like it might work. After spending a couple of hours adding, subtracting, and attempting to tie it all together… it still didn’t feel right.
You’ll get to see it, but it’s still too soon.
I believe most LifeUntucked readers are optimistic, forward looking people who strive to see the best side of people and this world. After all, that’s kind of the point of the blog.
So, as I was trying to reframe some of the pain, frustration and even anger we’re feeling into a more positive light, one truth became painfully obvious…
As I talked about one part, I was blocking out another.
While drawing attention to the good side, I found myself leaving out the most important part… that people are dying, not just being inconvenienced or disappointed.
When I hear the profusion of perspectives whether on television, online, or talking with friends and family. We’re all struggling to fit all the pieces together.
This crisis has many parts that don’t fit together into a neat little bundle.
As we process one piece, we block others. How else can so much be ignored?
I just added, then deleted a list of what I’m seeing as obvious disconnects. There wasn’t a way to say some of them without provoking a fight… and who wants that on the internet?
It’s still too soon. But we’ll need to work through them.
Until then… Stay safe. Be well.
And be untucked.

I really liked this Jeff. The idea of thinking of one aspect but having to block out the other really hit me. I shared it on Facebook because it is refreshing to read a measured take on things. It is a jumbled mess but calm reflections like this help move us towards that neat bundle. Stay safe and take good care.

Thanks for your thoughts on this, Pat… and a BIG thank you for sharing it in Facebook! I can absolutely agree on the jumbled mess… it leaves us asking more questions and getting fewer answers. I’m glad to hear you say I’m helping with the calm. We’ll get there…

Thanks, Jeff, for this week’s posting.
I think that a lot of my sadness about this entire situation is the old “anger turned inward.” Lives are so lost and ripped apart.

Yes Lou… it’s terribly sad. So many are hurting. We’ve got to work through our feelings, especially the anger. This one is tough to process. Thanks for sharing your thoughts
